Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University (AYBU) organized a meaningful event on the occasion of Disabilities Week. The screening of the film "Grain of Wheat," which tells the life story of Mr. Serkan BAYRAM, Esq., a member of the 28th Term AK Party Istanbul Parliament, followed by an interview session, was held at the Etlik Milli İrade Campus Conference Hall.
The event was attended by AYBU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Akın AKTAŞ, Secretary General Asst. Prof. Mümin ŞEN, Vice Coordinator of the AYBU Accessible Unit Prof. Dr. Bahar ANAFOROĞLU, the protagonist of the film Serkan BAYRAM, the technical staff and athletes of the Turkish Armed Forces Wheelchair Basketball Team and the Amputee National Team, along with numerous academics and students.
A Life Story That Moved the Audience
During the event, organized under the coordination of the AYBU Accessible Unit, the film "Grain of Wheat," which depicts Serkan Bayram's struggle and determination to overcome obstacles, met with the audience. In the interview held after the film, Serkan BAYRAM gave an inspiring speech by presenting glimpses from his own life.
"What I Could Not Hold with My Hands, I Held with My Heart"
In his speech, Serkan Bayram stated that they will continue their efforts to remove barriers both in Turkey and around the world. “Our struggle for an accessible world and an accessible Turkey continues. We will achieve this together. We don't lose when we fall, but when we give up. What I could not hold with my hands, I held with my soul and my heart, and I never let go. I hope this film brings hope to individuals with disabilities. I would like to thank Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University and everyone who contributed,” he said.
The program, completed with great interest from the participants, witnessed emotional moments and received high praise.
